Under the direction of the Executive Chef & Sous Chef/Lead Cook, the Dishwasher/Prep is responsible for preparing delectable meals in a safe and timely manner. stock delivery, storage and cleanliness of the kitchen. Must understand and be able to perform all food service and related procedures in a safe, professional, courteous, efficient, and organized manner.
KEY DUTIES
- To wash all cookware, dishware, cutlery & etc in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.
- Practice safe handling of dishware to avoid excessive breakage.
- Work in an ergonomically safe manner practicing proper lifting and bending and reaching techniques to avoid injury.
- Ensure the proper, safe operation of the dishwasher.
- Ensure that dishwashing machine temperatures are at acceptable levels.
- Work in compliance with all public health regulations.
- Know how to prep. (Cutting, peeling, dicing and sandwich making).
- Maintains work area in an orderly and sanitary condition. Participate in the proper cleaning of the kitchen including kitchen equipment, counter tops and beverage centre.
- Communicate with the Chef or Sous Chef to ensure adequate quantities of chemicals are on hand.
- Any other duties as directed by Management.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
License/Designation:
- Food Safe Certificate level 1
- Criminal Record & Vulnerable Sector check
Experience:
Must be knowledgeable and experienced in:
- Use of a dishwashing machine.
- Use of kitchen equipment.
- One year experience in Senior Living Community.
- Good in prepping, peeling, cutting and slicing
- Ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Demonstrates good judgment, problem solving and decision-making skills.
Education:
- Must have a Canadian high school graduation or equivalent.
- Must be able to read, write, and comfortably communicate in English.
- Must have experience with dishwashing equipment.
- Must understand oral and written instructions.
- Must have completed Food Safe 1 & successful completion of WHMIS.
